Musings, mumblings, and manifesting, poetry style

Guess who's back? No, it's not Slim Shady (not the REAL Slim Shady anyhow). It's me, Jason. And I am here with a favorite topic, from sea to shining sea: more poetry. Apparently in 2026, I have taken myself back in time 25 years, where dabbling in poetry was a more constant in my life. I have also been reading more of it (see: Oliver, Mary), perhaps leading to these short bursts of inspiration, and shorter bursts of words.
Below, you'll find a selection of poems. A handful already appeared elsewhere on this site, while others are making their first appearance. If you want more poetry of mine, you can purchase a chapbook I put together in May 2025. Suggested price $5-10. Venmo (jason-haskins-1) or msg me and I will get a (signed!) copy in the mail for you!
DREAM REFLECTION [SHADOW LIFE]
Dreams
to follow you around
hours into the day.
Effectively, real
but not
occuring
equating to happiness, relief, excitement [they should]
leaving you hollow, empty
longing
What once was
What is meant to be
A hug, a hello, a laugh.
Feelings.
Lingering

n
A simple smile
a tight embrace
remorse
Awakened too early
yearning to continue
the dream [or in life?]
Hold [on]
believe
deliver the frail love
to dream a reality

SUNLIGHT SERENADE
hey
fierce, fiery, loyal;
she of stellar grace
stoic, sagacious, devoted;
he of average build
through the rubble they rose
searching for light by day
facing bravely, alone
leaning towards each other by night
comfort in connection, together
until
one half
blown away in the night
shattered petals of
resiliency
stranded one
a wounded heart, brave face
other, never ventured too far
maintained reflection of desire
- and need -
a sunny day to reconnect
denied, flatly
hope cutting through stormy silence
fiery, fierce
sagacious, stoic
promises whispered
in echoes of time
found each other
through darkness, accordingly
I got you

SUMMER DAYS
Sublime mornings
under layers of passion
melting away
misty memories and
ennui
radiating in your
delightful
aura. Again
yesterdays turn into today's
stable future.
HAIKU
step back, a clear view
a new window to observe
miss the rain with you

Thanks for reading. Be bold. Be kind.
