Film, theater and then some

Seeing how it's been almost five months since an update has been provided on this site, I figured I'd drop one in today.

There is nothing to update.

Okay. That's not entirely true. Some of that was detailed back in December, here.

I am currently in pre-production for a short film I'm directing entitled A Broad Brush. This will be my first opportunity, outside of the classroom environment, in directing a film. It's been a very exciting, at times frustrating process, but I am looking forward to getting on the set here in a few weeks to put my new found knowledge to use.

I recently finished doing some dramaturg work for Alley Repertory Theater's production of Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. I was initially supposed to be an assistant director on the play as well, when it was first being discussed over a year ago. As it sometimes goes in theater, directors change and names get lost in the shuffle. As it is, I am still glad I was able to participate in the role of dramaturg.

Those are two of my recent endeavors that have taken place since December and the aforementioned December update. I have lost focus on the plays and novels the past few months, but if this past week is any indication, I am finding my way back into them again. Let's hope it's a trend that continues.

Until next time. Keep grinding.
